The administration of the Open University Systems of PSU conducted a virtual orientation for the new, returning and transferee students in the morning of March 19, 2022 via Zoom platform and Facebook Live. The said event was headed by Dr. Phillip Queroda, the Executive Director of PSU-OUS with the two Deputy Directors, Dr. Erna Salazar and Dr. Romary L. Lincod. All program advisers were also present, namely: Dr. Romary Lincod – Doctor of Education major in Educational Management (Concurrent); Dr. Renato Salcedo – Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management; Dr. Grace De Vera – Master of Arts in Education major in Instructional Leadership; Dr. Nova Arquillano – Master in Development Management major in Public Management; and Dr. Rosie S. Abalos – Master of Science in Fisheries.

Some university officials were also spotted in the event including Dr. Ian Evangelista, Chief Administrative Officer; Dr. Liza L. Quimson, the Campus Executive Director of Bayambang Campus; Dr. Evangeline Pescador, Director for Internal Audit System Office; Dr. Irene De Vera, Head of the Solid Waste Management and Pollution Control Unit; Dr. Catalina Platon, Director, Innovation Support Office; and others.

Also present in the event are the professors, non-teaching staff and the new, returning and transferee students of PSU-OUS.

The participants of the virtual orientation were warmly greeted by Dr. Queroda thru a welcome address, and he emphasized that choosing PSU-OUS as partner in achieving their goals in professional growth is the best option because of the institution’s internationalization initiatives and innovative learning management system under the leadership of Dr. Dexter R. Buted, the visionary and dynamic University President. He added that more exciting developments will be unfolded in the years to come.

The event was made more remarkable because of the presence of the Father of PSU-OUS, Dr. Alfredo Aquino who unselfishly shared an inspirational talk to all the participants. Further, Prof. Levi Jethro Balgua, OUS PRPIO Director, discussed the Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives (VMGO) of PSU, while Dr. Erna Salazar presented the University and OUS officials. The Learning Management System (LMS) was presented by the MIS Director, Dr. Julius Mamaril. Furthermore, Mrs. Helen Mabanta, OUS Registrar, talked about the enrollment and school records processes while Mrs. Mary Ann Mangapot, OUS Librarian, enumerated the different services that students can avail in the library. The payment method and other fees were introduced by Mrs. Arlene Padilla, OUS Cashier.

The professors in every program were also presented by their respective program advisers following the brief discussion of curriculum.

A special participation was integrated in the program. An alumna of the institution, Ms. Charlotte A. Yuson, was invited to share her MAEd Program journey while working as a migrant Filipino teacher in Thailand. At the moment, Ms. Yuson is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Education program in PSU-OUS.

Finally, a closing remarks delivered by Dr. Romary Lincod sealed the occasion. Dr. Lincod extended her words of gratitude to all the people behind the success of the said occasion. The event ended with a photo opportunity assisted by Dr. Grace De Vera, the master of ceremonies.
