To ensure the success of the said endeavor, an Orientation Workshop on P-OUS Open Distance e-Learning Model was held yesterday, July 12 at the PSU HM Function Hall. This workshop aimed to introduce and familiarize the PSU-OUS professors with the innovative educational approach of open distance e-learning.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Erna M. Salazar, the Deputy Director for Academics, Research, and Extension. Dr. Salazar expressed her gratitude to all the attendees and highlighted the importance of the workshop in advancing the university’s educational strategies and meeting the needs of modern learners.

Following the welcome address, Dr. Cristie Marie C. Dalisay, the Director for ETEEAP, provided a comprehensive statement of objectives. She outlined the key goals of the workshop, emphasizing the need to enhance the participants’ understanding of the P-OUS Open Distance e-Learning Model and its application within PSU-OUS.

The workshop featured three distinguished speakers who shared their expertise and insights on various aspects of the open distance e-learning model. Prof. Celeste T. Mercado, the Director for Students and Alumni Affairs, presented the first lecture on the topic of “Magisterial Lecture as Academic Delivery Model for PSU-OUS during the Middle Term 2023.” Prof. Mercado highlighted the effectiveness and importance of magisterial lectures as a pedagogical tool within the PSU-OUS framework.

The second speaker, Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, the Campus Executive Director of PSU Lingayen Campus, discussed the “Instructional Delivery Strategies of P-OUS Open Distance e-Learning Model.” Dr. Salcedo shed light on various instructional techniques and strategies that promote effective learning in an open-distance e-learning environment. He emphasized the importance of interactive and engaging instructional methods to foster student engagement and retention.
Dr. Phillip G. Queroda, the Executive Director of PSU-OUS, delivered the third lecture on “Crafting Learning Guide using P-OUS Open Distance e-Learning Model.” Dr. Queroda provided valuable insights on designing learning guides that align with the P-OUS model. He emphasized the need for clear and concise instructions, well-structured content, and interactive learning activities to facilitate meaningful learning experiences for students.

As the workshop drew to a close, Dr. Randy Joy Ventayen, a Senior Faculty member at PSU-OUS, delivered the closing remarks. Dr. Ventayen expressed his appreciation to the speakers for sharing their expertise and the attendees for their active participation. He reiterated the importance of embracing the P-OUS Open Distance e-Learning Model to foster quality education and prepare students for the challenges of the digital age.
