The Pangasinan State Universityโ Open University Systems, Binmaley Center held an online training titled ๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐ last April 22 via Microsoft Teams.
The said webinar aimed to provide learnings on various aspects of food safety, such as potential hazards in the food supply chain, measures taken to ensure food safety, and impact of food safety on the global community, among others.
Further, the webinar was hosted by the Master of Science in Fisheries students enrolled in the course FISH 217 (๐๐ฒ๐ถ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ค ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฅ ๐๐ถ๐ข๐ญ๐ช๐ต๐บ ๐๐ด๐ด๐ถ๐ณ๐ข๐ฏ๐ค๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ฆ๐ต๐บ) under Prof. Jennie Fernandez, OUS extension coordinator.
In his opening message, Dr. Phillip Q. Queroda, OUS executive director, talked about the importance of the said training. โ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐ก๐๐๐ ๐คโ๐๐๐ ๐กโ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ฆ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ก๐ฆ ๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐๐ โ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐ ๐กโ๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐. ๐๐๐กโ ๐กโ๐ ๐๐๐๐ค๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ โ๐๐๐๐กโ ๐๐๐ ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ , ๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ฆ ๐๐ ๐ ๐ก๐๐๐๐ ๐กโ๐๐ก ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ก๐ก๐๐๐ก๐๐๐,โ Queroda stated.
Dr. Queroda also expressed his gratitude to the hosting class led by Prof. Fernandez and. Dr. Sotero Aban, MS Fisheries Program Adviser.
Leading the lecture on food safety was resource speaker Mr. Gilbert โZiggyโ Felcongco, Risk Assessment Specialist for the Building Sage Agriculture and Food Enterprises (B- SAFE) of the United States Department of Agriculture, who shared insightful talk and innovative ways of ensuring the safety and quality of the foods being prepared.
The said webinar also featured an open forum which paved the way for the participants to exchange thoughts and questions related to food safety.
The conduct of such relevant and valuable training is a manifestation of the commitment of the PSUโOUS to ensuring that its students are armed with the necessary knowledge and skills they need in the present world.
