As part of the universityโ€™s commitment to promoting empowerment among women and various indigenous groups, the Pangasinan State University- Open University Systems, in collaboration with the Gender and Development Office and the Lingayen Campus, reached out to the indigenous women of Sitio Mapita in Laoag, Aguilar, Pangasinan thru an extension activity ๐™‡๐™ž๐™ซ๐™š๐™ก๐™ž๐™๐™ค๐™ค๐™™ ๐™๐™ง๐™–๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™‹๐™ง๐™ค๐™Ÿ๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ 1 held last June 30.

Over 50 indigenous women from the said IP community were given hands-on training related to economic empowerment, and basic computer utilization. The entrepreneurial skills of the Sitio Mapita women were also developed thru the preparation of various products which include calabasa chips, okra chips/pickes and tomato jam.

Leading the enhancement program were the esteemed speakers Ms. Rosalinda G. Cochico, Ms. Geraldine M. Niรฑeza, Ms. Lai M. Niella, Ms. Rizalyn A. Capanas, and OUSโ€™s very own, Dr. Presley V. de Vera.

The said outreach program which was proposed by OUS Officials Dr. Phillip G. Queroda (Executive Director), Dr. Romary R. Lincod (Deputy Director for Administration, Planning, and Quality Assurance), Dr. Renato E. Salcedo (Lingayen Campus Executive Director), and Dr. Presley V. de Vera (GAD Coordinator), along with the expertise and assistance of its Extension Coordinator Dr. Jennilyn Fernandez.

PSU-OUS commits to continue offering significant programs which shall reach out and uplift the potentials of all women and various indigenous groups.
